Alexander Colegrave

Head Boy, Athletics Captain, Triathlon Captain

"Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith." ~ Steve Jobs.
Born in Scunthorpe which is the other side of the Humber Bridge to Hull City,
otherwise known as somewhere in Lincolnshire.
Often fiddles with a pen and taps foot repeatedly.
Known as: "Al," in chemistry by Mr Powles,
"Lex," or in some cases, "Bum," by Mr Muller in physics.
And "Alec," in Maths due to the overuse of the phrase, "Smart Alec," by Mrs Logan.
I enjoy speaking to people, playing sport and possibly learning the odd thing now and then. Which basically means I enjoy my school life.

Elsabe Nel

Head Girl, Indoor Hockey Captain

"An open heart is an open mind" ~ The Dalai Lama
I'm not sure who exactly I am- but I guess I'm just another person with my own unique outlook on life.
I'm driven by happiness and love, and I find integrity and humility utmost important.
I can be found running around on the hockey field or immersed in the art room surrounded by Mr Shaw's witty puns.
Other than that, I enjoy the simple things in life.

Joshua Dove

Deputy Head Boy, Michael House Captain, Swimming Captain

"Stay humble, stay hungry." ~ Anthony Joshua
My name is Joshua Dove, Josh to most.
I love sport and I'm passionate about hockey and swimming.
I take Physics, Bio and Maths for 'A' level and I get along well with all of my teachers, I think this is an important aspect to enjoying your school life.

Gabrielle Dumont de Chassart

Deputy Head Girl, Cross Country Captain

"If it was easy, everyone would be doing it." ~ Gabby Dumont de Chassart.
18 years old going on 80, living in an old age home with my one cat and various selections of tea.
Fiercely proud student of Hellenic Academy and simply in love with a bit of adventure and anything active.

Ashley Mutasa

Prefect, Head of Debate, Athletics Captain

"Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honour your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth." ~ Bradley Whitford
My name is Ashley Mutasa, I believe in simplicity, hard work, mental endurance and dedication. I am a dedicated athlete who has learnt the value of mental endurance and strength. Practice is not easy however I believe if you suffer now, you will live the rest of your life as a campion! I cherish every day and those around me because at the end of the day it is the quality and not the longevity of life that matters.

Lionel Wilson

Prefect, Raphael House Captain

"I'd rather be hated for who I am that loved for who I'm not." ~ Kurt Cobain
My name is Lionel Wilson. I study Maths, Physics and Chemistry (all the fun stuff) to hopefully study in some form of engineering. Outside of academics, my passion is music. I play lead guitar, drums and sing, only rock music of course, in a band that I started at school (hopefully we'll be releasing our own album sometime in 2017 so keep an eye out for that one!) I feel I am an approachable and giving person, always doing my best to look out for people.
Overall I try to be as level headed as I can in every situation and to be a dependable person within the prefect body.

Chikomborero Dube

Prefect

"Three things cannot be long hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth."
My name is Chiko Dube. Better known, no pun intended, as Chiko Dubetter.
War cry taker. Feelings catcher. Hypebeast. Music fan. Mr Albertyn's favourite student.
Studying Maths, Physics and Geography.
I'm a people's person and I enjoy being around my brothers and sisters at the academy who have also become some of the best teachers.
I also enjoy food.

Pareen Bhagat

Prefect, Gabriel House Captain, MUN Secretary General

"The mind is everything. What you think, you become. " ~ Buddha Believe in yourself and your dreams.
Pareen. Not the easiest name to bring around nicknames, but I must say I have some truly creative friends and family. Reen, Perrie, Pezz, Paveen, Perizzle, P-Bizzle and my favorite of all created by Ashley Pozzo.... Pareenie the Geenie with a Beanie.
I may seem quiet and introverted, and sometimes I am. Get to know me and I'll never stop talking, singing, making weird faces and gestures. I love to make people laugh or simply make someone smile. I'm always willing to lend a helping hand and solve as many problems as I can (probably how I found myself in MUN). Deciding that life is too short to say no to opportunities was probably the reason why I ended up doing 8 clubs and having no free time. But I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm a musician, a dancer, MUN debtor, artist and professional single hand clapper (my very first identity in this school.) Disney Princess Movies and Star Wars are my specialities, ask me anything about them, I'll know. Oh! And Elvis Presley is my one true love. Just thought you should know that.
I am determined, loving, loyal, compassionate, random and truthful. I am who I am, it may not be what everyone likes, but we can please everyone.

Cameron Cornish
Zack Langridge
Katrina Maberly

Cameron Cornish

Prefect, Rugby 7s Captain, Waterpolo Captain, Cross Country Captain

My favourite quote is: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog".
My name is Cameron Cornish - actually, William Cameron Cornish - but I prefer being called Cameron, and most people only know me as Cam. I enjoy almost all sports, especially rugby, rugby sevens and water polo.
I do geography, physical education and GST as my subjects as would like to do something sports related after school. More of a sportsman than an academic lad as I'm sure you can see.
I also love music of most genres ranging from indie to trance.

Zack Langridge

Prefect, Treasurer of Interact

"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today" ~ H. Jackson Brown
My name is Zack Langridge and I have been at Hellenic since grade 1. I'm doing Maths, Biology and Geography for A level, a combination that could take me anywhere, except I still don't know what I want to do after school. I enjoy swimming, playing hockey and helping the community through the Interact club.

Katrina Maberly

Prefect

"Today I choose joy" ~ Anonymous
My name is Katrina Ashley Maberly and I believe each day is made up of a series of choices. You can either choose joy or you can choose sadness, compassion or animosity, to be kind or to be unkind. Each of these decisions reflects you and are the building blocks of the person you ultimately become. This last year of high school, I choose joy and I encourage you, whoever you are to choose joy with me.
I am the form one Gregory prefect this year. I am taking Maths, Chemistry and Biology and I'm passionately hoping to one day become a great surgeon.
My average Saturday consists of working at the Borrowdale trauma centre with one of my best friends Meg and loving every second of it.
When I get a free moment and I am done with homework you'll either find me running, reading or baking all with a lovely cup of tea warming my hands. (regarding two of those lovely things, I highly recommend 'born to run' by Christopher McDougal to any person at any age. It changed my entire perspective on running, it's great!)
I am a proud tea collector and love all things Cath Kidston.

Ocean Smith
Vladimir Korkut
Rosie Strong
Bradley Nyandoro
Stephanie McGaw
Rumbidzo Dangarembizi

Ocean Smith

Prefect, Waterpolo Captain

"Be the person your dog thinks you are"
My name is Ocean Victoria Meecham Smith. I am passionate about Water Polo and I spend most of my time in the water. I love being around people and my family and friends are extremely important to me. I am an avid FRIENDS fan and can quote just about every episode of any season. Anything to do with chocolate is fabulous and a cup of tea, a good laugh and a long sleep are the three best cures for anything.

Vladimir Korkut

Prefect, Gabriel House Captain, Head of Boys’ Choir, Head of Toastmasters

"The present youth holds the future, and how the present is lived determines the future."
Born in Zimbabwe to Serbian parents so I hold the great privilege of being able to say that I'm Zimbabwean when in Serbia and Serbian when in Zimbabwe. Great topic of conversation - I think I've mastered the art of explaining the Zimbabwean economy and how my parents ever ended up here.
A student of science and advocate of arts.
There is no greater feeling I have felt than unity for or against something. When one group becomes one body that is when an immeasurable force is created.
Whatever happens to you is a path being paved to the realisation of your full potential as a human being. It requires some optimism to believe so but isn't that something we could all learn from our dogs.

Rosie Strong

Prefect

"Life is like photography; we develop from the negatives" ~ Anonymous.
My name is Rosie Strong. Rosie to most. I'm taking Literature, Maths and History for A level. I love school for all the teacher and students in it. I extremely loud and outgoing and I'm always up for a laugh.

Bradley Nyandoro

Prefect

The mind and body are only but empty vessels, crafted to be somewhat self-reliant and ever adaptable, that can only be controlled, and piloted by probably the most formidable force in know knowledge. The Soul. Pain is felt through the body and mind, but never through the eternal Soul, thus you are only as strong as you want to believe. My name is Bradley Nyandoro. Diwela otherwise.

Stephanie McGaw

Prefect

"Don't wait. Life goes faster than you think."
My name is Stephanie McGaw, also known as Steph by most, Fif to K-tea Maberly and Stephie McGaw to Mr Fourie.
I spend most of my time drinking tea, laughing, talking, pronouncing my words wrong and being with my friends.
I am taking Geography, Physical Education and English Literature as my 'A' - level subjects. I am in The Events Club as well as Interact. I play hockey, tennis and indoor hockey.
I love Going on adventures, coffee dates with my friends and sundowners on top of Domboshava. It's important to do things that you love.

Rumbidzo Dangarembizi

Prefect, MUN Deputy Secretary General, Head of Strings

"To choose to write is to reject silence." ~ Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Hello everyone I'm Rumbidzo Dangarembizi, born on the best day in the world, 24 May 1999. Right before a public holiday and in a month with lovely weather. I am affectionately known as Rumbidzo, Rumbi, Rumbles and Rumbs by those around me. My burning passion for the arts has formed me into a ballet dancer and a viola player. I'm a self-acclaimed feminist, a member of the growing natural hair movement, a huge fan of African artists, a writer and a peacemaker. I am in love with godly bytes, and you'll probably never pass a day without seeing me indulge guiltily. I also value my nationality highly and my upbringing on our beautiful continent.
Being a member of the Hellenic Academy has been a fulfilling experience for me. It's my second home and I've never felt so in love with a society that accepts you for who you are and what you can do. Our multi-cultural society at the Academy makes us rich, appreciative and diverse which I feel is a great tool for the future here in Zimbabwe. I firmly believe that once we "reject the single story" about our society and its stereotypes, we will indeed thrive in our blossoming and rich country.

Taine Roelofsz
Luke Mannion
Sara Chibwe
Ashley Pozzo
Sahnya Abdulla

Taine Roelofsz

Prefect

"Work hard in silence; let success do the talking."
My name is Taine Roelofsz and when it comes to writing things like these, I'm usually a man of few words. However, in general, I am quite outgoing and I guess a decent conversationalist, if I may say so myself. I enjoy playing rugby, listening to music and I love being a part of the Interact Society as it allows me to help my community.

Luke Mannion

Prefect, Cricket Captain, Squash Captain

"The biggest challenge of life is to be yourself in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else"
My name is Luke Mannion. Known amongst my peers as "Luke Skabenga," I like to keep things simple, which is why I would rather be playing rugby, cricket or squash than being in a classroom! However, there's no place I'd rather be than at this incredible institute with friends that make it all the more special.

Sara Chibwe

Prefect, President of Interact, Head of Cultural Music

"The size of your dream must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them." ~ Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
My name is Sara Madalo Thokozile Katenga-Chibwe, affectionately nicknamed pumpkin by my day one, mum.
Part time student and part time teenage councilor, who's always willing to have a good laugh with the pupils of The Academy. Self-proclaimed music critique and avid hockey player! When I'm not visiting Ms. Hundermark's Literature lessons you can find me in the Chemistry or Biology Lab and occasionally Mr. Albertyn's Math class.

Ashley Pozzo

Michael House Captain, Secretary of Interact

"Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things no one can imagine."
My name is Ashley Pozzo, mostly called Ash, Pash or Pozz. I study art, literature and bio as my A level subjects and I absolutely love all of them. I am lucky to have such a wonderful year group and circle of close friends who make school much more enjoyable. I believe in trying hard in everything and doing any sort job to the best of my abilities. Oh, and I must confess I am very passionate about organization, it's great.

Sahnya Abdulla

Raphael House Captain, Head of Media Club, Swimming Captain

"Professor, is this real, or is it all just happening in my head?"
"Well of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"
My name is Sahnya Abdulla, which I believe has been a real plus point all my life because I've been at the top of almost every single register. Other than that, I believe in balance and always doing what feels right. I believe that if you truly want something, you won't have to convince yourself to work towards it and that if you don't really care, you'll always find an excuse. I believe in doing what makes you happy, and in being a part of something that sets your soul on fire, regardless of what anyone else thinks, because after all it is your life. I enjoy music and theatre, but I am also a mad science student as I take Chemistry, Physics and Maths for A level. Swimming has also been my biggest frenemy ever since I can remember. After having spent hours on end training in the pool to swim for my country, the thought of doing it all again irks me... but, once I get in the pool, even to this day, it feels just a little too much like home. I am also quite a football fanatic, whether it be playing or watching. Another thing about me is that I am an avid photographer. I love seeing the things that mean the most to me - my family, my friends and my school - through a lens. It's a weird sort of magic.
But that's life to me I guess, it's all a weird sort of magic, made up of the things we love and hate the most. I am a firm believer in just seeing where the wind takes you in life, and so far, for me, it's been a spectacular ride.

I also love being at school and with this amazing group of people 2017 will be a great final year. It's been a great experience being at the Academy and I hope you or your child will feel the same way too.

Michelle Van De Merwe

Head of Wind Band

My favourite quote is: "Have courage and be kind," from Cinderella, and this is the motto I try to live by.
I joined wind band in form one, playing the timpani and doing other percussion whilst I advanced in trombone.
I am now grade 7 on the trombone and have been playing for 5 years.
Music is a home away from home for me and it helps me to relax after a hard day at school.
My music inspiration is Hans Zimmer who composes music for Marvel films such as The Amazing Spiderman

Matthew Stephens & Gugulethu Mpofu

Heads of Drama

Drama has elicited a great happiness in both of us. Thomas Jefferson said, "Happiness comes from the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed". Society sometimes splashes mineral turpentine on idiosyncratic canvases of our lives. Our hopes and dreams may be restricted by the pervasive social order. Drama has always been our forms of release from the frustrations of daily life. From playing various different roles, acting has allowed us to express ourselves through the portrayal of others. Through becoming other people we have understood the world better, understood even ourselves better. This club will always ask you to look at society and examine the different people within it. Which is why we feel as though drama is the art of living.
